We have a Compressor driven by a 11 KV 25 MW Sync motor. The HT inverter is very costly.
What are the various drive / starting options available ? Which may be best techno economically ?
Can a "Pony Motor" be used with such large drive ratings ?

Dear easyser,
please specify the starting conditions, i.e.: first-detachment torque in worst conditions, acceleration torque needed (compressor open or with by-pass or with normal increasing load, etc.), longest time accepted to start, available space near the existing (or new) motor, motor speed, type of final load (constant or variable), energy cost in your area.
If energy cost is high and load is variable during hours, the best solution will be too different form another solution for constant load at low energy cost.
Kindest regards
Mario
