Virtual Rs232 And Rs485 Serial Ports
Posted 25 April 2007 - 09:03 AM
Connection to the serial server is via the ethernet port and provided that the "serial IP for Netbiter" driver is installed and configured correctly, the two serial ports can be set up as two COM ports i.e. COM2 and COM3.
COM2 can be configured as RS232 for programming PLCs and COM3 as the RS485 port for monitoring traffic on the RS485 bus. This is particularly useful when debugging serial communications issues.
The port mapping on the Serial Server works with some software that will not work with some USB serial port converters.

I downloaded several programs for RS232/485 ports emulation and the best for me is Virtual Serial Port Driver by Eltima. It allows to exchange data on both ends of the applications in such a way, that everything written to the first port will appear in the second one and backward.
Here is the software: http://www.eltima.co...ual-rs485-port/
