We have an application where a large motor , about 7500 HP, is required. The application requires the motor to be reversed frequently, from full speed in one direction to full speed in another direction, in about 6-7 secs.

Which type of motor + drive , AC or DC is better for the above application ?

What are the pros and cons of using an AC Drive vs using a Dc Drive.

Thanking in advance,
easyser

I have 33/6.6 KV 20 MVA trafo feeding 8 nos of 2 MVA trafos. One of the trafos is feeding AC drives; the total KW of the connected loads is about 1000 KW. The motor capacities range from 11 KW to 110 KW.

How to calculate / know whether harmonic filters will be required on the 6.6 KV bus or not ?

Thanks,
easyser

We have a Compressor driven by a 11 KV 25 MW Sync motor. The HT inverter is very costly.
What are the various drive / starting options available ? Which may be best techno economically ?
Can a "Pony Motor" be used with such large drive ratings ?

I am designing a scheme that requires the use of a reversible VVVF drive.
Is there any standard symbol for Reversible VVVF Drive?
