Helo to you all,
I find that I have a problem designing software for the control of garden variety 3 phase BLDC motor. I can design hardware all the live long day, but coding just leaves me cold. So having gotten lumbered with this project seems like an excellent opportunity to learn! I want to do this, but some steers/guidance from the odd expert (hopefully not too odd) would be a great help. So is there anyone out there smart enough to help me? Thanks in advance for your time. Tony. |

Hello p305100
Welcome to the forum I probably fall into the odd category, but not the expert, however one of the first things to determine is the level of interfaciing that you require, both hardware to the "inverter" section, to the outside workd and to the operator. Once you have determined this, you can beging to look at the processor that best suits your application. Too many people decide on the processor first (because they have used it before, or have heard that it is good etc) and then try to make it fit and work. Some processor families are scalable so you can p\urposfully develop with an over sized processor and scale back once you have proven the operation and establish the core size required. Once you have determined a small range of processors to look at, you wil probably find that there are already software routines available which can provide the core of the functionality that you require, so do not overlook the support from the cpu manufacturer. You also need to determine what language you wish to program in. Generally for the realtime waveform generation side of things you will have to use assembler, but the rest can be done in a higher level language such as C or pascal. If you are not a proficient programmer, you may find pascal a better option. It is much easier to debug and quicker to write than C. How far have you got with the project??
