Motor's Use As Star Instead Of Delta

Dear Gentleman

A10 kw motor which is designed to be used as 380 volt Delta.
If iuse this motor by supplying 380 volt in star
Can i save Energy ?

No, except that when the motor trips out on overload, you will save a lot of energy because it will not be running!

When you connect it is star, you are effectively reducing the voltage to each winding by the square root of 3, so you are then reducing the torque that the motor can produce by that voltage reduction squared, ending up with 1/3 of the available torque. If your motor was properly sized to do the job it was intended for, it will stall with only 1/3 of its available torque.

If you are operating the motor at less than 3KW, then you can connect in star and you will save some of the iron loss, but if you load is less than 3KW, why are you using a 10 KW motor?
