QUOTE helooooo help me what are the materials used in motor and transformer cores? Hello yrk The cores used in most magnetic components such as transformers and motors are a form of steel lamination. There are different grades of transformer steel with different characteristics. For high frequency transformers and magnetics, the core is commonly a form of ceramic with iron powder or ferrite materials. The core provides a low impedance path for the flux and increases the inductance of the winding. This reduces the turns per volt and by concentrating the flux, it reduces the coupling impedance.
