Can anyone please advise me in selecting a single phase motor for a centrifuge? I understand that a capacitor start motor is best for applications requiring a high starting torque but am unsure of what size motor or any starting arrangements that would be required.

The centrifuge rotor is 5” in diameter, weighs about 2 kilos and has to be spun at around 8000 rpm by a V belt drive.

I don’t mind doing a bit of experimenting if given a good starting point

PS. Can anyone point me in the direction of a few motor suppliers with decent prices?

Cheers
Ian.
