Hi,
I came across with one project which requires my system to comply with certain SIL 3 standard. If I were to choose the componenets from PLC selection and instsrumentation used, is it necessary to have all componenets certified to SIL 3 or only for the PLC. Normally this type of requirement apply for hazardous area. Anyboday can clarify on this.

TQ

You would normally do a risk assessment… this should clarify what SIL you need and where you need it. The risk assessment should ideally be traced to some standard……..usually driven by the type of industry the kit is for.
