how do i measure the power factor with linear optocouplers type il300?

I would like to know sites, documents or anything about how to measure the power factor with linear optocouplers type il300? Because i'm making a work in school and i'm searching sources!Please contact me if you know something by e-mail...thanks

Hello Oliveirinhasus

Power factor is the raion between KW and KVA and can be less than unity due to the angle between current and voltage, or the presence of harmonics.
If you wish to measure the phase angle between the current and voltage, then use a comparator on the voltage and another one on the current to get two square waves in phase with their source. Use an exclusive OR function on these two square waves and you will get a pulse stream that is proportional to the angle between the current and voltage. This can be applied to the opto coupler.
