HOW I CAN SELECT STARTING RESISTOR VALUE / RATING / TYPE FOR CRANE TRAVEL & HOIST APPLICATION??

hello Dipak

Changing the value of the resistors in the rotor circuit of a slipring motor, causes the speed torque curve to be altered. As you increase the rotor resistance, the speed of the maximum torque reduces. If you know the load torque and speed required, you can calculate the speed torque curves for the motor with different resistors and use these curves to determine the the required resistance value. While operating at reduced speed, the slip losses are dissipated in the resistors. You must select resistors of sufficient power rating to withstand this power.
