connect encoder on solid roller shaft

Anyone have a good way to connect an encoder to a solid shafts between 1 3/8" to 2 1/4". Some of the shafts do not even have an index hole in the end of it. Any and all help will be appreciated. I need to install about 10 encoders with this setup.
