For those not familiar with Soft Switching of the Inverter Bridge IGBTs ..... which effectively reduces the dv/dt (dU/dt) at the motor terminals, the below papers will introduce you to the concept / benefit .

see Saftronics paper on Soft Switching Technology

and also the below paper which is a more technical treatise on Soft Switching

"A Comparison Of Voltage-Mode Soft-Switching Methods for PWM Converters"
