Dear All
I have a Parker brand SBC Servo motor 335VAC 0.62kw which is controlled by a servo motor drive. The motor consist of winding, thermister, brake and a Resolver for feed back to drive. When I started the motor with servo drive, it draw unbalance current and motor shaft vibrated. I checked the winding and found ok. Then I concluded that problem was in the Resolver. I tested the drive by connected another servo motor and found ok. I tried to test the motor without Resolver connected but when I disconnected the resolver, drive went in to fault. Is it possible to test the Servo motor by Inverter instead of Servomotor Drive? -------------------- "Don't assume any thing, always check/ask and clear yourself".

Is it possible to test the Servo motor by Inverter instead of Servomotor Drive? Output stages of all inverters are almost same no matter whether they are servo or or M/C or v/f. The difference is onl;y in the control technique . And as a servo motor and drive bothe are made for close loop application . being differnt in construction it is difficult to run the Servo motor with Normal inveretr. And only Jref and Marke can help you out. |

AB2005,
a brushless motor is similar to a syncron motor. In some cases - if your inverter is able to drive a synchron motor - you can test is using a variable frequency inverter. You have only to take care to avoid situation in which demagnetization is possible. Regards Mario -------------------- |
