Pls visit this site for their new products:
http://www.somar.co.uk/sites/opportunity/

Are they really work or just another scam?

As for the lighting controller, is it possible to have reduction in kwh without sacrificing the light intensity (lux)?

Not sure about the feasibility of refrigeration controller, professional advice needed!!!! :)

Thanks.

Greetings....:)

I am curious to know what is the technology behind energy saver for lightings?

I've seen quite a lot of these products in the market which are installed at DBs. For residential or office, the PF for fluorescent lights is about 0.85 which is considered relativety high. I heard that by installing these energy saver thing, the light will be dimmer, that's the "trade off" for the savings??? How true is this?

How about energy savings for industrial/factory lightings such as ballasts or discharge lamps? same technology as fluorescent lighting?

Thanks:)

I find this forum useful and informative :) Great work!!! :)

Regarding PFC for residential area, I will expect no saving in kwh since we are only billed for Kwh from our local utility company.

However, if my house electricity is supplied by diesel gen set and I correct my PF as close as unity, will I expect any savings on fuel?? I think I will.....In other words, PFC in this case is useful right?

Pls comment. Many thanks.....

Thanks Mark for his prompt reply regarding harmonics. (I should have posted the topic under motor section)

I attached a harmonic graph measured from a 3phase 1.5kw motor. Apparently, 5th harmonic is the highest in terms of %Vn and %In.

Is this a bad sign??

Keen to know more...

Can anyone help me to understand more about harmonic distortion, between current and voltage distortion?

What level of total harmonic distortion (THD) in percentage is considered "dangerous"?
