Dear all.
I've had the occasion to test an interesting family of inverter-fed three-phase motors, without permanent magnets in the rotor. Rotor is very simple: a steel shaft and steel lamination. In the rotor there is no alumimium cage, no copper cage, no magnets, no windings, no brushes. Motor cost is therefore lower than cost of a low-cost asynchronous motor. Motor efficiency is very high; inertia is low. Such motor should be used for medium-precision positioning without using an encoder. Thanks to absence of encoder, encoder connectors and encoder cable, reliability is increased. Stator is absolutely normal. Stator should be of any construction type, but must be only 4-poles. Inverter hardware is absolutely standard, if the inverter has 3 current sensor in the output stage. Inverter software must be special. At the moment there are in small production motors from 100 W tom 900 kW, a big range. Only four-pole construction is possible. In field-weakening mode, the possible speed range is high. Peak torque is better, compared to standard AC asynchronous motors. Only for quantities, you can find it at REEL - Italy How can we call this type of motor, called SSP? This is not a switched-reluctance motor, not a reluctance motor, not an usual synchronous motor. Some ideas? Best regards Mario

Dear all,
on factories where many single-phase intermittent welders are active 24 hours/24, to reduce flicker reflected to the main supply, do you have some recommended product to suggest ? Power supply of such factories is between 2 to 30 MVA. Welding are short, 2 to 20 cycles , after that there are 40 to 100 cycles without welding. I know some solutions, from Canada, from Israel and from Switzerland: Automatic Voltage Compensators, Dynamic Voltage Restorers, DSTATCOMs. Static and rotating UPSs are too expensive for such sizes, we cannot consider them. Do you have some specific experience in similar applications? Thank you in advance. Regards Mario

Dear all,
I'm looking to find a manufacturer of 2-poles 3-phase alternators, in the range 1 MW to 7.5 MW, low voltage or medium voltage, frequency 50 and 60 Hz, therefore speed should be 3000 or 3600 rpm. I know manufacturers that can realize such machines, but I would find - if possible - a manufacturer that has already manufactured such machines, with experience and references. Such machines shall be purchased regularly, some pieces every year for each frame. These generators will be used for renewable energy cogenerators, where 4-poles construction cannot be used. Can someone help me? Thank you in advance Mario

I would suggest to add - as first message, deleting this one - some basic rules how to write in this section.
For example, it is possible to nominate companies without an official agreement? Is it possible to copy info from other sites? (Copyright!) How long must be such info? Regards Mario

Dear all,
this company in Italy sells refurbished MV and LV power transformers, switches, cabinets, coming mainly from companies that stops production activities here. SIMIR Sometimes there are very good occasions to save money. Regards Mario |
