marke
Hello sams89 Welcome to the forum. I do not think that they were invented as such, just evolved. The induction motor is inherently pretty efficien, but there have been presures from the regulatory authorities to increase the efficiency, and due to this requirement, the designs have been tweaked to improve efficiencies. There are a number of "tweaks" that have been done to the designs to improve the running efficiencies. These include rotor changes and stator changes.
