Slip Ring Motor

Recommended Posts

a 450 hp slip ring motor having 680amps stator and 590 amps rotor on name plate in running mode taking 400 amps stator and 100 amps rotor.my question is does rotor take 100 amps load after cutting the resistance,we use automatic slip regulator make innovative tehnomics.or whether there is any fault with the rotor or with the mechanical load(we use the motor to drive a mechanical fan ? we are in dilemna what shall we do,i want a suggestion

Dear chakravadhanula,

please specify how big is your fan, and specially what power it needs to operate at nominal motor speed.

I could understand that you don't have measured Amps at full speed, but at lower speed.

In this case it is normal to measure a lower power, considering that the load torque for a fan is variable with square law v/s speed.

Happy new year
