ram14375
dear sir can anyone throw some light on moment of inertia of motors. has it to be greater than load moment of interia or less than load moment of inertia ram
marke
Hello ram The moment of inertia of a motor is the moment of inertia of the rotor and that is reasonably small compared with most driven loads. If you are asking about the maximum moment of inertia that a motor can start, then the rating is the greatest effective moment of inertia that you can couple to the motor shaft, so the load inertia as seen by the motor must be less than this figure. There are two ratings. The actual moment of inertia of the rotor, and the maximum moment of inertia that can be coupled.
