marke Posted April 17, 2007 Report Share Posted April 17, 2007 Hello mlf If the overload is in series with the line current to the motor, then it should be set to the rated motor current. If the overload is in series with the windings, (this is the usual connection with a star delta starter) then it should be set to the winding current which is the line current divided by root 3, except where the overload is calibrated for use within a start delta starter. - some overloads are marked in line current but actually calibrated for winding current. You need to check up on the overload in case it has been calibrated for use in a start / delta starter only.
