Dc, Synchronous Or Induction Motor?

Recommended Posts

Hi All...

I am thinking of developing an electrical motor to be used as a generator/motor as part of the energy storage system. The application is meant for hybrid car engine. So I need a generator to change the mechanical energy from the braking system to electrical energy (which is stored in battery) and vice versa.

The problem is I am quite blur on how to start doing it. What kind of motor should I use, DC or AC? If any of you guys can help me with the tips on how to choose a motor for that application, please tell me.

Thank you.

"do-it-yourself" is not possible in a difficult market like hybrid vehicles.

If I have to take a decision, my choice will be "permanent magnet brushless 5-phase motor", due to the best performances vs. weight, volume and efficiency.
