Kw Calculations

Could someone please clarify how Volts, Current, Watts and Power Factor are formulated to determine actual kW usage for single and 3 phase motors. I have seen multiple formulas to determine this and am unsure of which to use.

Welcome to the forum

 

For single phase, P = V x I x PF

P = watts

V = Volts

I = Amps

PF = power factor

 

For three phase, P = V x I x rt3 x pf

P = watts

V = volts phase to phase

I = Amps (in one phase)

PF = power factor.
