ram14375
dear everbody can any body explain why in slip ring motor rotor short circuit contactors are connected in delta (not in star). ram
jraef
They are? I have never seen that. Are you saying that you have 6 slip rings then? Because if you only have 3 slip rings as I have always seen, how would you connect in Delta? "He's not dead, he's just pinin' for the fjords!" The short circuit contactors links are made in delta and star in certain cases i would like to know the differences ram
marke
Hi ram Yes you are correct, the contactors can be arranged such that each pole shorts ring to ring, or connect each pole between a ring and a virtual star point. The difference between the two connections, is the voltage across the contactor poles when the contactor is open, and the current through the poles when the contactor is closed. The voltage in the delta connection is root three higher than in the star connection. Best regards, Mark. Dear Mark thanks for your reply, kindly let me know which connection would be advantageous If he have a motor with rotor voltage 1455v and 1105 amps what is the contactor voltage/current rating if it is used in star delta thanks ram
