Ahmar
For one of our projects supplier has supplied 500 V squirrel cage induction motors but our system voltage is 400 V ac. How can we convert these 500 V motors into 400 V? can it be done by rewinding? if so what changes in the winding need to be made.
marke
Hello Ahmar You can change the voltage by rewinding. Reduce the number of turns by the voltage ratio. To reduce the voltage by 10%, reduce the number of turns by 10%. You also need to increase the wire size as the current at the reduced voltage will be higher. Best regards, Mark.
