Aluminum Wired Fan Vs Copper Wired Fan.

Dear Friends;

Some years before, the fans produced in our country were wired (winding) with copper wire but now a day, fans are also wired with aluminum winding wire. The point which confuses me is that, for example, ceiling fans are following specs;

Copper wired fan

220V, 50HZ, 75W

325rpm.

Aluminum wired fan

220V, 50HZ, 75W

325rpm.

The air delivery of both fans is same. I am confused that how can it be possible that aluminum wired fan consumes same 75W energy to rotate the fan in same speed? The energy losses in aluminum wire is much high than copper which increases overall energy consumption but practically there is no difference. Please explain in detail to clear me.

AB2005,

probably the wire gauge of aluminium wires is bigger than wire gauges of copper wires, for the same motor size.

Best regards,

Mario

Hi AB2005

Provided that the cross section is large enough to prevvent overheating, the next major issue is the terminating of the winding ends.

Best regards,

Mark.
