VSD Driven Compressors

Here in the UK a couple of the large compressor manufacturers are marketing their VSD driven compressors and claiming very substantial energy savings indeed compared to a standard star/delta start motor driven compressor.

 

You will not beleive the amount of companies i have seen purchase these systems for their primary compressor which run full load 24/7

 

When the compressor is running full load, no savings with a VSD can be achieved, in fact it will consume more power with a VSD fitted.

 

When the compressor is off load, just switch the thing off, as 99% of compressors do after a set time.
