Pool pump speed control.

Hello Chris

Welcome to the forum.

If the motor has brushes, it will be a "universal motor" and you will be able to control the torque, and thereby speed, by reducing the voltage applied to it. This could be done by the use of a tapped transformer, or a variable transformer or a solid state AC voltage controller.

The solid state controller would be a phase controlled triac rather like a large light dimmer.

Best regards,
